Mekong River tours attract European tourists

From September 13 to April 2008, Saigontourist and CFM will organise river tours from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa by using RV Toum Teav and RV Lan Diep ships.

Most of tourists who have booked the tour are from Germany, France and other European countries, said Mr Le Quang Thang, head of cruise department of Saigontourist. “They want to discover the culture, traditional crafts, life and daily activities of local people,” he added.

River tours are very popular in Europe. Ships used for these tours are designed for travelling in small tributaries. Joining the tour by Saigontourist, travellers can view landscapes and stop over at many interesting destinations along the journey.

2008 will be the year of Mekong river travel and is expected to attract more international tourists to the Mekong river provinces of Vietnam. Tourists will be impressed with business activities, culture and life of residents along the Mekong river.
