Miss Earth 2006 to beautify int’l travel fair in Vietnam metro
The Chilean beauty, together with beauty queens from the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam, will join the International Travel Expo HCMC 2007 (ITE 2007) kicking off October 5 to promote tourism in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Some 160 Vietnamese and foreign businesses have registered to attend the three-day event, themed “Discovering The Mekong Jewels – Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam – Three Nations, One Destination.”

Deputy head of the HCMC Tourism Department’s tourism promotion bureau, Ta Nam Binh, told a press briefing yesterday that this year’s event would include 18 Vietnamese tourism agencies and 10 others from abroad.

The operators of 58 hotels and golf courses, 49 tour operators, six airlines and five related companies will display their products at the event, said Binh.

This year’s event will also see the participation of 110 travel international agencies, a 50 percent increase in the number of foreign participants on last year. Most will come from key source markets for the city’s tourism industry such as the US and Europe, he added.
