PATA awards Macau for its dedication to heritage

The Pacific Asia Travel Association has just awarded its Grand Award for Heritage to the Macau Government Tourist Office for its 2006 Macau World Heritage campaign.

Regarding the award, PATA said in a statement, “The campaign successfully boosted the economic value of the city’s rich heritage by positioning and promoting its “historic centre” as a must-see attraction.”

After Macau was awarded their UNESCO listing in July 2005, the tourism board launched a range of activities, both local and international, to promote the region and it’s 400 years of Chinese and Portuguese culture.

PATA this year had four ‘Grand Awards’ in the categories of Marketing, Heritage, and Education and Training.? These awards were given away in conjunction with 24 Golden Awards.
