The Korea Travel Expo 2008 will kick off at COEX in southern Seoul on Feb. 27 for a four-day run through March 1. More than 260 organizations and travel agencies will take part in the expo, organized by the Korea Tourism Organization, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and KBS. Some 100,000 visitors are expected. For the 2008 Visit Gwangju-Jeonnam (South Jeolla Province), local authorities of the region will be the guests of honor and promote their tour programs. Special promotion booths will be prepared to boost tourism
in Taean, South Chungcheong Province, where the nation's largest oil
spill hit. Although many of the tourist attractions there have recovered
from the damage, people are still shunning the region, and residents
there, who make a living by the tourist industry, are suffering financial
difficulty. |
