Vacationers Filling Overseas Chuseok Packages

Travel agencies are in high gear ahead of the five-day Chuseok thanksgiving holidays, aggressively wooing travelers heading abroad. The hotel industry is also offering a variety of packages targeting vacationing families.

With more and more Koreans spending the holidays overseas, the travel industry is enjoying a peak season. Travel agencies estimate that more people will go abroad during the upcoming holidays than did over the summer vacation season.

Hanatour Service, Korea's largest travel agency, said it has booked 23,376 customers to travel overseas from Sept. 21 to 23. That's more than the 16,411 people the company sent overseas from Jul. 27 to 29, the peak vacation days of summer.

The company has chartered three planes to fly to Taiwan and seven to Hong Kong and it has booked almost all the seats already.
